Green Day are already playing their iconic 2004 album American Idiot in its entirety every night on their ongoing summer tour, but the fun won’t end once the outing wraps Sept. 28 in San Diego. The band will reissue American Idiot in honor of its 20th anniversary in several incarnations on Oct. 25, including an eight-LP or four-CD Super Deluxe boxed set packed with unreleased tracks and footage.
Three songs from the collection are out today (Aug. 9): a demo of “Holiday/Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” the B-side “Favorite Son” and a live version of “Minority” from a 2004 show at New York’s Irving Plaza.

Beyond the audio content, each boxed set will include two Blu-ray discs comprised of the 2015 American Idiot making-of doc Heart Like a Hand Grenade, performances on Top of the Pops and Later With Jools Holland and the new, nearly two-hour documentary 20 Years of American Idiot.
The vinyl box contains a unique Green Day flag and a red necktie in the vein of the one featured in the American Idiot artwork.
American Idiot revitalized Green Day after several years of dwindling sales in the wake of their mid-’90s breakthrough with the album Dookie. A sort of punk rock opera about life in George W. Bush’s America, the project was built on a variety of short suites which were then assembled into epics such as “Jesus of Suburbia” and “Homecoming.” The result was perhaps the biggest comeback album by any ‘90s band, with American Idiot selling six million copies in the U.S. alone, spawning four ubiquitous hit singles and even a Broadway musical.
