Barren region Daze Cancels 2024 Version: ‘We Attempted The whole lot’

The beloved Desert Daze festival has canceled its 2024 edition, which was to be its first in two years, due to “rising production costs and the current volatile festival market,” according to a statement from its organizers. The event was set for Oct. 10-13 in Lake Perris, Ca., with headliners Jack White, Cigarettes After Sex and the Mars Volta.

“Desert Daze is more than a festival or business venture to us,” says event co-founder Phil Pirrone. “The community that we’ve cultivated together means so much to us and is the reason we will work to find a way to keep this beautiful thing going for many years to come.”

More from Spin:

“With each year, we do our best to serve the Desert Daze community,” he continued. “We are always learning and working diligently to improve the experience, and we tried everything to find a way forward this year. While we hit pause for now, we will be working in the background to deliver another special experience for all of us to share in the future. We thank you for your support.”

The stacked lineup was to be rounded out by a Floating Points DJ set, Molchat Doma, the Kills, Power Trip, Unwound, DIIV, Converge, Shintaro Sakamoto, Low’s Alan Sparhawk, Souls of Mischief, Frankie and the Witch Fingers and Tropical Fuck Storm. Refunds will handled through points of purchase.

Desert Daze paused in 2023 after welcoming King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Tame Impala and Iggy Pop to Lake Perris the year prior. The brand is also promoting a host of upcoming club shows in Los Angeles and New York, which will not be affected by the festival cancelation.
