DC Robin Film Dynamic Duo Introduced, Matt Reeves & James Gunn Concerned

DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures Animation are officially developing a Dynamic Duo animated movie, which hails from producers Matt Reeves and James Gunn. The project will be produced by New Orleans-based animation studio Swaybox, which will use a blend of CGI animation, stop-motion, and live-action real-time performance, known as “Momo animation.”

“I have wanted to make a film with Arthur and Swaybox for many years, and for that film to be Dynamic Duo, an incredibly special and unique Batman and Robin story for families, is a dream,” Reeves said in a statement.

What is the Dynamic Duo movie about?

The Dynamic Duo movie will center on the origins of two Robins, Dick Grayson and Jason Todd. Despite Reeves’ involvement, the story will be separate from the filmmaker’s The Batman universe. The project will be directed by Arthur Mintz from a screenplay written by Matthew Aldrich. It will be produced by Gunn, Reeves, Peter Safran, and Theresa Andersson, with Michael Uslan serving as an executive producer.

This marks DC Studios’ latest animated project, following the upcoming Creature Commandos. It will feature the voices of Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., David Harbour as Eric Frankenstein, Indira Varma as the Bride, Sean Gunn as G.I. Robot and Weasel, and Anya Chalotra as Circe, with Viola Davis and Steve Agee reprising their respective DCU roles as Amanda Walker and John Economos. The adult-animated series will debut on December 5, 2024 on Max.
