Large Names Set For Ozzy Osbourne Rock Corridor Tribute

Tool’s Maynard James Keenan, Metallica’s Robert Trujillo, Billy Idol and guitarist Steve Stevens, Jelly Roll, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, Wolfgang Van Halen, Andrew Watt and guitarist Zakk Wylde have signed on to pay musical tribute to Ozzy Osbourne at his Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction on Oct. 19. Jack Black will present the Prince of Darkness with his plaque and will also perform.

Many of the contributors have previously performed and recorded with or served in the backing bands of the 75-year-old Osbourne. Watt produced the artist’s most recent studio albums, Ordinary Man and Patient Number 9, which featured Wylde, Smith and Trujillo. Other participants such as Jelly Roll have long named him as a key influence.

More from Spin:

It’s unknown if Osbourne himself will participate in the musical tribute, as he has only performed twice, and briefly, since late 2018 due to health issues.

Beyond Osbourne, Mary J. Blige, Cher, Dave Matthews Band, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Kool & the Gang and A Tribe Called Quest are all set for enshrinement in the performer category at the upcoming event, which will be held at Cleveland’s Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. This year’s event will be streamed live on Disney+ and air as a separate ABC highlight special on Jan. 1.

Dr. Dre, Dua Lipa, Julia Roberts, Demi Lovato, James Taylor, Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, Busta Rhymes, Chuck D, Ella Mai, Lucky Daye, Mac McAnally, Method Man, Roger Daltrey, Sammy Hagar, Slash and the Roots are among the stars set to either perform or present.
