Jiwon’s version brings an intimate and soulful touch, turning the track into a reflection of his struggles. As he explains, “I felt like I really connected with this song because (as I understand it) it is about Sabrina wishing her boyfriend would stop drinking and be a better guy. I feel like I’ve been there as the guy whose issues with drugs/alcohol have affected their relationships with their loved ones, and I thought the way Sabrina inhabits the opposite position was very poignant.”

The delicate production of Jiwon’s version is stripped-down and impactful, allowing his voice to shine. More than just a cover, it is a reinterpretation that mirrors Jiwon’s personal experiences.

He recently performed at a private industry showcase at an event that undoubtedly propelled his rise in the indie pop genre.

With this highly personal version of “Please Please Please,” Jiwon not only covered it but inhabited it, unearthing a heartfelt story of vulnerability and redemption for listeners. By turning the song into a reflection of his battles with addiction and relationships, Jiwon brings raw authenticity to every note. His stripped-back production allows his voice to carry the emotional load, making the track feel both intimate and haunting. With recent high-profile performances and music video releases, this cover further cements Jiwon as an emerging artist with a story worth telling. As Jiwon continues to gain momentum in the indie pop scene, his unique perspective and genuine talent make him an artist to watch.
