CM Punk and Roman Reigns are two of WWE’s top stars, yet they have never faced each other in the ring for a long time. Over the years, their relationship has evolved, with one common factor linking them which is Paul Heyman.
CM Punk worked with Paul Heyman as his manager during his historic WWE Championship reign, which lasted 434 days from 2011 to 2013. Since 2020, Heyman has served as Roman Reigns’ Special Counsel and Wiseman. Although Punk and Reigns crossed paths when Reigns was part of The Shield, they faced off in a singles match on WWE RAW in 2014, with Reigns winning thanks to interference from The Shield.
In 2014, Punk left WWE, and Reigns rose to prominence, becoming WWE’s top star. The two have not squared off since Punk returned to WWE last year. However, earlier this year, Reigns took a jab at Punk’s triceps injury during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.
With their paths yet to cross in the ring, fans eagerly anticipate their eventual showdown. Recently, CM Punk shared his thoughts on his relationship with Roman Reigns and how it could unfold on WWE TV.
What CM Punk said about Roman Reigns?
WWE Superstar CM Punk recently appeared on Peter Rosenberg’s Cheap Heat podcast, where he discussed his relationship with Roman Reigns. Punk mentioned that since his return, he and Reigns have been on different shows. Also, due to Punk’s injury and Reigns’ time off, they have not crossed paths yet.
When asked about his current relationship with Roman Reigns, he stated, “They (The Shield) came here and made a whole ton of waves in a short amount of time. My relationship with all those guys was pretty good. I just had to get the hell out of here. It was time for my own sanity.”
CM Punk further added, “But, yeah, I mean, absence makes the heart grow fonder. I think a lot of the questions you have—like, ‘What is Punk’s relationship with Roman? What does Punk feel about Seth?’ I think all that stuff’s going to play out on television because that’s what I do.”
Both Punk and Reigns could soon potentially come face to face. It has been heavily speculated that CM Punk could join Roman Reigns in his fight against Solo Sikoa and The Bloodline at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames.
