Watch Video For Sade’s First New Music In Six Years

Sade Adu first new song in more than six years appears on the massive compilation TRAИƧA, and now the artist has released a video for “Young Lion,” which is dedicated to her son Izaak, who is a trans man.

Loaded with home movie footage of Adu and her family, the clip was directed by longtime collaborator Sophie Muller, who previously worked with Adu and her band Sade on videos for such songs as “By Your Side,” “No Ordinary Love,” “Turn My Back on You” and “Love Is Stronger Than Pride.”

“Young Lion” is one of 46 songs on TRAИƧA, the latest issue-driven compilation from Red Hot. It features contributions from André 3000, Sam Smith, Julien Baker, Clairo, Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy, actor Hunter Schafer, Big Thief’s Adrianne Lenker, Fleet Foxes, Beverly Glenn-Copeland, Faye Webster, Perfume Genius, Low’s Alan Sparhawk, Laura Jane Grace, Allison Russell, Bartees Strange, Yaya Bey and Sharon Van Etten.

TRAИƧA is available now digitally, but can also be pre-ordered in a tinted acrylic package with six LPs in individual jackets and a 32-page booklet. This edition will ship in spring 2025.

Meanwhile, Adu and her band have not released an album since 2010’s Soldier of Love, but they’ve worked on new material at the Brad Pitt-owned Miraval Studios at the famed Château Miraval in the South of France. Sade previously recorded portions of the 1985 album Promise in the original incarnation of the studio, which was built in 1977 by French pianist.composer Jacques Loussier.
