Jonny Coyne will reprise his role as an Imperial warlord in The Mandalorian & Grogu.
Coyne played an Imperial warlord in the seventh episode of The Mandalorian Season 3, which was released in 2023. In the episode, Coyne’s character and a number of other Imperial officials meet with Giancarlo Esposito’s Moff Gideon to discuss the Mandalorian’s plans regarding Mandalore. The group of warlords is called the Shadow Council, which secretly operates against the New Republic.
Per Deadline, Coyne will be reprising his Mandalorian role in Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian & Grogu, which is set to be released in 2026. It is not immediately clear how large of a role Coyne’s character will have in the movie.
Along with The Mandalorian, Coyne is known for playing Warden Edwin James in Fox’s Alcatraz and Dr. Arthur Lydgate in ABC’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. His filmography includes 2003’s Lara Croft: Tomb Raider — The Cradle of Life, 2012s Would You Rather, 2013’s The Hangover Part III, 2018’s The Nun, and 2020’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.
