Clorox Proves ‘Blank Feels Excellent’ And Dorinda Medley Is of the same opinion

Did you know that there is scientific proof that cleaning can give the same mood boosting benefits as playing with puppies, getting your nails done, or even getting a massage?

With the help of neuroscientists, Clorox put its new brand platform, Clean Feels Good, to the test—revealing that cleaning is a feel-good activity. And who better to celebrate the power of clean than “Real Housewives of New York” alum Dorinda Medley, who teamed up with Clorox to show just how fabulous a fresh, sparkling space can feel!

Clorox partnered with Emotiv to conduct a neuroscience study from January 12 through 14, 2025, to explore how partaking in specific activities affected brain signatures with the use of electroencephalography, or EEG. They studied the brain activity in response to three cleaning activities and seven feel-good activities.

The study revealed that “cleaning feels as good as:” getting your nails done, petting puppies, and “wiping the kitchen counter with Clorox felt better than getting a massage.”

“It’s such an incredibly interesting thing, and after you read the results, you read what some people say, and you know, it’s a lot of fun,” Medley told The Blast exclusively. “I was saying, actually in one of the meetings yesterday, I get all this cleaning feels good and why it’s so interesting to look at the results from the neuroscientists. Actually, for some people, it was the same as playing with puppies, as getting your nails done, having a massage.”

The reality star, who fans of the “Real Housewives of New York” know loves cleaning and keeping a clean house at Blue Stone Manor, really enjoys that “serotonin boost” that cleaning gives her.

“The serotonin boost from cleaning with Clorox products, or just the confidence you get because I know myself after many Saturdays I wake up and I’m like, today, I’m cleaning,” she said.

“You just get on this high. It becomes such an incredible activity, and at the end of it, you are so pleased with yourself and so happy and confident that it’s actually such a clean house. It’s a great setup for your day.”

Spring Cleaning Time Is Here!

With the start of spring just around the bend, spring cleaning is on the minds of many. For Medley, this is her time to shine with a little help from Clorox.

“I use a lot of Clorox wipes. I love the toilet wand. Of course, we use the bleach,” she told The Blast. “I love the wipes because I have so many people in and out of my house. And we do a lot of prepping, so by the time someone arrives here, the house has been cleaned and prepped.”

One thing Medley stressed is to not forget the “secret places” that can easily be forgotten when cleaning – doorknobs, all the handles, and faucets.

Medley said that at the end of March, it’s go time for a deep cleaning of Blue Stone Manor.

“What better time of year for a full clean at Blue Stone Manor. We do sort of a full clean three to four times a year, so this is a perfect partnership for me. Spring cleaning is around the corner and we’re going to do it at the end of March, so we’ll literally take all the Clorox products,” she shared. “We’ll take all the wipes and just go from every room and wipe everything down and get it ready to open up and get rid of the winter blues and bring the sunshine of cleanliness of spring to Blue Stone Manor.”

When asked if she has a favorite moment from her time on the “Real Housewives of New York,” Medley said there are “several” and it’s tough to narrow it down to just one.

“I have several. Some of them are less admirable than other ones,” she said. “As long as people are still talking about them, it’s a good thing.”

She further explained, “I’ve always loved: I cooked, I cleaned, I decorated, I made it nice. I think they’re going to have to put that on my gravestone,” she said. “I still to this day hear that at least five times a week.”

As far as regrets or things she would go back to change, she said she’s not someone who regrets things of the past.

“I think the whole process, you have to be authentically yourself in the moment. I think you can learn from certain situations, maybe learning curves you do in life,” she said. “When we were filming, we were really in it. That was us sharing our lives with you. We weren’t filming the show. So that’s what I think the truth is, and I’m very Sagittarian. I’m not a regretter.”

Medley talked briefly about her time on “The Traitors” saying it was “short,” but an experience she “loved.”

“They get you there earlier so you have a minute to absorb your environment, because you are in complete and utter isolation. That’s not pretend,” she told The Blast. “They even put tape over your doorknob so you can’t look out your door. There’s no electronics, nothing. I personally liked it because I can remember when we had no electronics and stuff and we never allow ourselves that grace anymore, even when we think we’re allowing ourselves that grace, we’re not.”

In addition to her partnership with Clorox and her podcast, Medley is thinking about what’s next for her.

“I’m in the progress of pitching another book, because I just think it’s time,” she said. “I feel like ‘Make It Nice’ was such a great book. I love it, but it came out during COVID, so I didn’t have the same experience of publishing a book and going out there and doing a book tour. So it’s time. I got another book inside of me.”
