The Texas Chainsaw Bloodbath Reboot in Construction, Eying Glen Powell

Leatherface could be getting ready to rev up his chainsaw once again, as Deadline is reporting that studios are looking to reboot the iconic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise with an eye toward a big star.

What do we know about The Texas Chainsaw Massacre reboot?

According to Deadline’s report, studios and filmmakers have all been in contact with Verve, an agency that has handled the rights to the iconic horror franchise since 2017. Specifically, one of the people interested is JT Mollner, the director of the 2023 hit indie thriller Stranger Darling.

Deadline also notes that, should Mollner get the opportunity to write a script for a new entry in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, then megastar Glen Powell is someone who “would like to read it.” The combination of Mollner and Powell may not be set in stone just yet, but the report mentions that studios like Lionsgate, A24, Neon, and others are all interested should it come to fruition.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise is one of the most iconic in the world of the horror genre. The first film, titled The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, premiered in 1974, and its iconic villain Leatherface instantly became a mascot for the genre.

Throughout its history, nine different movies based on the series have been made, the latest of which was David Blue Garcia’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre, a Netflix film that was set 50 years after the original film.
