In 2019, Loughlin and her husband, Giannulli, were indicted in a college admissions controversy reportedly orchestrated by admissions consultant Rick Singer.
Loughlin and Giannulli faced arrest for allegedly paying half a million dollars to a Singer to falsely designate their daughters, Olivia Jade, and Isabella Rose, as recruits for the University of Southern California’s rowing team.
The celebrities made the payment despite neither of their kids having any prior experience in the sport. Consequently, the actress received a two-month jail sentence, along with a $150,000 fine and 150 hours of community service.
Her husband, Giannulli, received a more severe punishment: a five-month prison term, a $250,000 fine, and 250 hours of community service. The designer began serving his sentence in November 2020 and was transferred to house arrest in April 2021 to serve the one-month remainder of his sentence.
