Denzel Washington recently commented on his Black Panther 3 role during an interview, giving a short and guarded answer about his work with director Ryan Coogler. He kept details about the part and the film’s plot undisclosed, leaving fans to speculate about his involvement.
Denzel Washington won’t share any more details on Black Panther 3 role
While speaking to ScreenRant‘s Liam Crowley about Highest 2 Lowest, Denzel Washington faced a question about whether he and Ryan Coogler had continued discussing his role. He gave a short reply: “That’s between me and Ryan.”
Coogler previously revealed he had sought a way to include Washington in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He confirmed he wrote the part in Black Panther 3 specifically for him. Washington’s role and the film’s plot remain undisclosed. The movie follows Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which introduced characters such as Namor and the Talokan civilization, expanding Wakanda’s story within the MCU.
On the 7PM in Brooklyn podcast, Coogler faced a question about whether he had spoken with Washington about the film or was writing a role for him. He responded, “All of that, bro, all of the above,” adding, “There’s no fiction out there.”
Coogler also described his long-standing desire to collaborate with Washington, saying, “Denzel is family at this point…I’ve been trying to work with him since day one. I think he’s the greatest living actor, and in terms of what he means to our culture, forget about it. I’ve been talking to him about this to him for a long time.”
Coogler noted that Washington’s earlier comments about the collaboration caught him off guard. “I was surprised when he mentioned it, but it’s not like it’s not true,” he said.
Marvel Studios has not released official details about Black Panther 3, its cast, or its storyline. Washington’s casting marks his first role in the MCU, and the collaboration between him and Coogler has been in discussion for years.
