Shakira Says Unhealthy Bunny’s Efficiency Got here At ‘Best Second’

Shakira is the latest voice to speak up as Bad Bunny remains the name on everyone’s lips.

Following his announcement as the headliner of the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show, the internet has been divided. While some are thrilled to see the Puerto Rican singer take the Super Bowl stage, others are far from impressed.

However, Shakira is among the former, expressing her belief that the performance couldn’t be coming at a more “perfect moment.” She echoes the sentiment of fellow Latina Jennifer Lopez, both of whom previously shared the Super Bowl stage with Bad Bunny.

In an interview with Variety, the Colombian singer shared her reaction to the announcement of the Super Bowl headliner.

“It’s about time!” she exclaimed, recalling their previous performance together. Shakira, dubbed the “Queen of Latin Music,” recalled taking a daring step five years ago to include Spanish music in their set list.

Reflecting on how far the industry had come in accepting Spanish-language music, she shared, “I hope and like to think that all the times my music was met with resistance or puzzlement from the English-speaking world before it was embraced helped forge the path to where we are now.”

Despite the approval from powerhouses like Shakira and JLo, not everyone is looking forward to Bad Bunny headlining the Super Bowl.

According to The Blast, among the critics is former race car driver, Danica Patrick, who voiced her displeasure at the news on X (formerly Twitter).

“Oh, fun!” she began sarcastically with an eye roll emoji. Patrick stated categorically that her disapproval was based on the fact that Bad Bunny’s songs were not in English.

“No songs in English should not be allowed at one of America’s highest-rated television events of the year… not just for sports,” she declared, sparking backlash and debate across the internet.

Critics like Patrick have not only spoken up against the “King of Latin Trap” but also taken action.

As reported by The Blast, a petition that has garnered over 50,000 signatures calls for Bad Bunny to be replaced by country music legend George Strait.

The petition argued that, unlike Bad Bunny, Strait “embodies the heart and soul of American music.” It further stated that the Super Bowl performance was supposed to “unite our country, honor American culture, and remain family-friendly, not be turned into a political stunt.”

They noted that Bad Bunny’s “drag performances and style are the opposite of what families expect on football’s biggest stage.”

In a bid to buttress their case, the petition criticized recent Super Bowl performances, stating that instead of focusing on “roots that have made American music what it is today,” it had leaned heavily toward contemporary and transcultural sounds.
