Draft Day is a 2014 sports drama film directed by Ivan Reitman. It stars Costner as Sonny Weaver Jr., Boseman as Vontae Mack, Jennifer Garner as Ali Parker, Denis Leary as Coach Vince Penn, Frank Langella as Anthony Molina, Terry Crews as Earl Jennings, Sam Elliot as Coach Moore, and more.

“Sonny Weaver Jr. is the general manager of the Cleveland Browns,” a description of the film reads. “One of pro football’s most important days, NFL draft day, is drawing near, but Sonny has much more on his mind than just which players to recruit. His lover is pregnant, and the team’s owner wants to fire him. After Sonny accepts a deal with Seattle that nets him that team’s first-round pick, he immediately wonders if he has made the right choice for himself and the Browns.”

Draft Day received relatively good reviews from critics, as the movie currently has a 60 percent Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes with 159 reviews and a 65 percent Popcornmeter score. The film, however, was not a box office hit, as it only made around $29.8 million globally off an estimated $25 million budget.

Draft Day was the last movie that Reitman directed, as he passed away in 2022 at the age of 75. Reitman is best known for directing 1984’s Ghostbusters and 1989’s Ghostbusters II, while his filmography also includes 1979’s Meatballs, 1981’s Stripes, 1990’s Kindergarten Cop, 1997’s Father’s Day, 2006’s My Super Ex-Girlfriend, 2011’s No Strings Attached, and more.
