Fallout Superstar Finds Season 2’s Toughest Scene To Movie

The Fallout Season 2 ending may have rattled viewers with its chaotic set of sequences, but for Walton Goggins, filming a particular scene from Episode 5 between Ghoul and Lucy was a much more excruciating experience. In a recent interview, he opened up about the Fallout scene that was the hardest for him to enact in the Amazon Prime Video series’ second outing.

Walton Goggins had a tough time filming this Fallout Season 2 scene

The White Lotus star has revealed that the sequence where Cooper Howard / The Ghoul decides to betray Lucy (Ella Purnell) in Fallout Season 2 ended up extracting a heavy toll from him.

“The betrayal of Lucy, and to find that out, in my own mind, was easy to do, but very hard because it goes against [the Ghoul’s] will,” Walton Goggins noted while speaking with Comic Book Resources’ Annie Banks.

The 54-year-old thespian added, “The Ghoul is becoming more human, kind of in that moment, really, and in the nature of this entire experience, for me as The Ghoul. Being on that pole and getting to a point where he reminds himself that he is not this person and that he was, he is a man. He does matter, and he has a child, and he had a life, and I think you know all of us. In that moment, he would get to the same thing. There’s so many emotional moments.”

Notably, in Fallout Season 2 Episode 5, titled “The Wrangler,” Goggins’ The Ghoul turns against Lucy by handing her over to her father, Hank MacLean (Kyle MacLachlan). In a bid to get closer to his family, Cooper strikes a deal with MacLean and tranquilizes Lucy before delivering her.

The sophomore season ends with Hank sacrificing himself by wiping his memories clean, including all recognition of his daughter. While Ghoul’s betrayal of Lucy left Walton Goggins in shambles, it was this scene that did the job for Annabel O’Hagan, who plays Stephanie Harper in the show. “That scene with Hank and Lucy tore me to shreds,” the actress noted.
