Savannah Guthrie Units As of late Display Go back Date After Mom’s Abduction

Savannah Guthrie will return to the Today Show following her mother’s abduction.

When will Savannah Guthrie return to the Today Show?

On Friday, NBC‘s Today Show announced Guthrie will return to the desk on April 6. It will be her first appearance since January 30, two days before her mother, Nancy Guthrie, was reported missing. The news came after a tearful interview aired between Guthrie and Hoda Kotb. Guthrie has been grappling with whether she should return ever since the tragedy.

“It’s hard to imagine doing it because it’s such a place of joy and lightness, and I can’t come back and try to be something that I’m not,” Gutherie said in the interview. “But I can’t not come back, because it’s my family. I think it’s part of my purpose right now.

“I want to smile. And when I do, it will be real,” she continued. “I will have joy. And my joy will be my protest. My joy will be my answer. And being there is joyful. And when it’s not, I’ll say so. And I have been so grateful to have this family. I consider this my family, my greater family.”

Part III: Savannah Guthrie Discusses Plans to Return to TODAY

Guthrie’s mother was reported missing from her home in Arizona on February 1, 2026. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department called Nancy’s disappearance a presumed kidnapping.

The FBI later joined the investigation. However, no suspects have been named or apprehended. Nancy Guthrie’s whereabouts and condition remain unknown.

Guthrie even debated if she could come back to the show at all. Ultimately, she decided she wants to try.

“When times are hard, you want to be with your family. And I want to be with my family,” Guthrie said. “And so I don’t know if I can do it. I don’t know if I’ll belong anymore, but I would like to try. I would like to try. I’m not going to be the same. But maybe it’s like that old poem: ‘More beautiful in the broken places.’”
