Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has announced the digital, 4K, and Blu-ray release dates for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, the sequel to 2023’s blockbuster Super Mario Bros. Movie. Since its theatrical debut over a month ago, the sequel has received a Popcornmeter score of 88% on Rotten Tomatoes.
“The film finds Mario and Luigi solving everyday problems in the Mushroom Kingdom with their ‘let’s-a-go’ attitude. They meet a new friend in Yoshi, try to reform a miniaturized Bowser, and eagerly look forward to Peach’s birthday party,” reads the official synopsis. “A call for help sends the crew across the galaxy to face new worlds, unexpected threats, and iconic characters like Rosalina and Bowser Jr.”
When are the digital, 4K, and Blu-ray releases for The Super Mario Galaxy?
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will be available to rent or own on digital platforms on May 19. This will be followed by its 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray release on June 16, 2026. The home video release will also include more than an hour of bonus content, such as a guided deep dive into the Easter eggs hidden throughout the film. During its theatrical run, the sequel grossed around $942 million worldwide, making it this year’s highest-grossing movie to date.
The film was directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, with Matthew Fogel writing the screenplay based on Nintendo’s 2007 video game Super Mario Galaxy. It features the voices of Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, Kevin Michael Richardson, Brie Larson, Donald Glover, Glen Powell, and Benny Safdie. Chris Meledandri and Shigeru Miyamoto produced the animated movie.
