Jenna Ortega recently teased what fans can expect from the much-anticipated Season 3 of Netflix‘s Wednesday. The show was renewed for a third season in July 2025, just before the release of its second season. Season 3 is currently in production and is expected to air sometime in 2027.
Jenna Ortega says Wednesday Season 3 will be a coming-of-age story
Jenna Ortega recently sat down for a chat with Esquire and teased a bit about how the hit series’ story continues in Wednesday Season 3.
She conveyed that Wednesday and the other characters will face their feelings head-on more in Season 3 as they explore adulthood. Ortega stated, “This season, especially because the kids are seniors in high school now, we’re dealing with more confrontational feelings regarding family and what it means to be an adult and what you see for your life.” Ortega referenced her own experience of reaching adulthood and added, “There may be sunny days ahead, but shadows always have a way of creeping in.”
The actress also shared that after working with director Tim Burton on both seasons of Wednesday and the movie Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, she now has a better understanding of Wednesday. She said, “The more I learned about him, the more I realized what Wednesday represented. Or what she could be.”
Ortega, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Emma Myers, and others are returning for Season 3. They will be joined by newcomers like Winona Ryder, Eva Green, Lena Headey, Noah Taylor, Oscar Morgan, and Chris Sarandon, among others.
While speaking about working with returning members and newcomers, Burton told Netflix that he was particularly excited to reunite with the original cast. However, the director also added that Season 3 holds more significance for him and is “extra special” because of the “addition of some dear friends and past collaborators of mine — Winona, Eva, Chris, Noah.”
