Sydney Sweeney recently shared a clip of her latest adventure-sport outing and mentioned Tom Cruise in the caption. This has drawn considerable reaction from fans, and Top Gun‘s official Instagram page has also commented on her post.
Top Gun and fans react to Sydney Sweeney’s gravity-defying plane stunt
Sydney Sweeney posted a clip of her wing walking on Instagram. Set to Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ ‘Spitting Off the Edge of the World’ (ft. Perfume Genius), the video shows Sweeney strapped to a biplane as it maneuvers in the sky. “Watch out Tom Cruise,” the Euphoria star wrote in the caption.
Sweeney’s post has drawn a massive reaction from the fans. It currently has over 400,000 likes and more than 5,000 comments. The official Top Gun Instagram page is one of the commenters. “Feel the need for speed,” the page shared. Meanwhile, actress Leslie Mann urged Sweeney to be careful.
Further, one of the fans wrote, “Whole lotta Nope for me, but between the Bungie and this I get the feeling you like the adrenaline rush :). Just triple-check safety!” Another fan called the video “amazing” in capital letters. A third admitted, “See, I could get on the plane and would do this but the going upside down and twists parts would probably freak me out a little! Add No Fear to your resume, Sydney!”
Although Top Gun commented on the post, Sweeney’s caption likely refers to the 2025 movie Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, which features Cruise performing a wing-walking stunt in an extraordinary sequence.
Sweeney has not played any roles in any of the Mission: Impossible or Top Gun movies. In fact, she and Cruise haven’t worked together yet. However, she has starred in projects with distinct action motifs in recent months. Madame Web and Christy are good examples of this. Accordingly, she can be a great addition to the cast of the next Top Gun movie. Alternatively, she could lead a spin-off of the Mission: Impossible franchise.
