RPGs really have become the standout genre across all sorts of mediums, and tabletop is where they really have started to shine over video games in the last few years. Many of the most recognizable IPs from the fantasy genre and beyond have joined the proverbial party in recent years and that’s showing no signs of slowing down as we rapidly close in on 2027.
While those bigger franchises often draw in all the attention, there are plenty of other options out there for those who are looking for something a little more unique for their next RPG playthrough. Now one of the most exciting examples of that in recent years, Dungeon Crawler Carl, has just received a new release, and it could make your playing experience more immersive than ever.
Renegade Game StudiosIn case you aren’t familiar with it just yet, Dungeon Crawler Carl is originally a science fantasy book series written by Matt Dinniman that blends classic survival action with traditional role-playing game mechanics. The story follows the destruction of Earth by aliens, where the remaining human survivors are forced into an 18-level underground labyrinth to perform in an intergalactic reality television show.
It’s quite Hunger Games-esque in that sense, though the tone is a lot lighter if you found the trials of Katniss Everdeen to be a little much at times. From that premise, Renegade Game Studios has developed a full tabletop adaptation, where one person acts as the game master, controlling the monsters and enemies while other players do their best to survive.
It sounds like a lot of fun, and the company has now confirmed that pre-orders are open for the Mobs of Mordecai Minis Set 3. Priced at $65.00, the set includes 8 prepainted Dungeon Crawler Carl miniatures. The full list of inclusions for this latest effort are as follows:

The other two mini sets are also available to pre-order, and the base game is available via BackerKit for $150. The Core Rulebook is $65 to pre-order from the store as well, though don’t feel like you need to purchase all of these to get in on the fun.
