Taylor Swift will release new music on September 25, the same day Marvel’s Avengers Endgame: Encore will hit the cinemas. Seven years after her single “ME!” collided with the original film’s opening, the two are lining up again.

Taylor Swift announced The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore on Wednesday morning. It extends her 2025 album with four new tracks, listed on pre-order pages as numbers 13 to 16: “Patient Zero,” “Cleveland!,” “Pink Clouding” and “Babylon.” She had revealed “Patient Zero” as a single a day earlier.
The date holds historical significance for Marvel fans. Swift put out “ME!” on April 26, 2019, the day Avengers: Endgame opened. Some Marvel viewers mocked the song online, and one Swift fan hit back with a post that gave away the film’s biggest twist: “since ya’ll wanna be a**holes for taylor, iron man dies in endgame.” The tweet became a running joke and is still parodied today. A spoiler war seems unlikely now. After all these years, few people don’t know how the film ends.
The re-release, titled Avengers Endgame: Encore, adds roughly four minutes of new material. Variety projects an opening of $25 million to $28 million, enough to take first place in North America and set a record for a re-release debut.
Moreover, both releases work the same way, giving devoted fans more of something they already love. Swift’s version is the bigger addition, with four full songs, while Marvel says its extra footage matters more than its length suggests. The overlap leaves fans with a busy Friday: a seat at the multiplex, a first listen to the new tracks, or both.
Anthony and Joe Russo directed Endgame from a script by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. The film concludes Marvel Studios’ first 22 movies, following the surviving Avengers as they make a final stand after Thanos wipes out half the universe. Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, and Josh Brolin lead a large ensemble cast.
