Dexter‘s universe may not be expanding after all.

Online rumors and speculation have surrounded the update to the Dexter spinoff focused on arguably one of Dexter Morgan’s most evil enemies: the Trinity Killer. However, during an interview with Deadline, showrunner, executive producer, and writer Clyde Phillips appeared to shut down any hopes for an Original Sin return completely, but also provided a disappointing update on a new spinoff series:

“No, it keeps coming up online, and people speculate about it. I personally think that it’s not going to happen. I just think it’s, we wrote all the scripts, and they’re all tucked away, and they’re great. John Lithgow was going to narrate it. We also had young detective Lundy, Keith Carradine. But the scripts are wonderful. And again, you know, there’s a change in management, studio changes, and everything.

So whatever you’ve read is news to me. And I think it’s internet speculation.”

More to come…
