Melissa Rycroft has spoken out following another DWI arrest and shared that she has “been struggling.” She first rose to fame as a contestant on Season 13 of ABC’s The Bachelor in 2009. Before that, she was a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader from 2006 to 2008 and starred on CMT’s “Making the Team.”

After being arrested for an alleged DWI in Texas, Melissa Rycroft is speaking out and seeking support. The former Dancing with the Stars contestant addressed her second DUI arrest in a year in an Instagram post shared on November 3.
According to jail records reviewed by Entertainment Weekly, Rycroft was taken into custody on November 1 by Southlake Police. Authorities then booked her at the Tarrant County Corrections Center in Fort Worth. Prosecutors have charged her with three counts, including second-degree DWI. Other charges include driving without financial responsibility and causing a collision with over $200 in damage.
Sharing an update two days after the incident, the reality TV personality wrote, “First, please know how deeply ashamed and embarrassed I am, especially knowing how much this has affected my friends and family.’ She continued, “I want to share something personal, and to be honest, I am very ashamed to share it, but I can’t hide it anymore. I’ve been struggling with my mental health for quite some time now. It has completely overwhelmed me. I’ve tried to hide what I’ve been going through by putting on a smile, but behind the scenes, things been much harder than anyone realized or that I have let on, even to my family.”
Now, Rycroft has revealed that she is working toward recovery. She noted there were no excuses and that she was finally ready to accept that she needs support and is turning to professional care.
The Dancing with the Stars alum continued, “This is hard to say and the shame is still very much there but I’m ready to feel like myself again, for me and for my family. They have stood by me through all of this and they deserve honesty they deserve me at my best. That’s what I’m working toward for all of us.”
