Martha Stewart Reportedly ‘In search of Any individual Else to Blame’

Shocking new reports have emerged about Martha Stewart’s Halloween controversy.

The lifestyle guru faced backlash for dressing up as a homeless person, with many fans accusing her of being out of touch with reality.

Although Stewart tried to manage the fallout online by issuing an explanation, reports suggest that her mood behind closed doors is far more explosive than her public statements let on.

In a Halloween post, Stewart took on the persona of a homeless person, complete with dirt smeared on her face and a sign that read, “I am Hungry, Help me!!”

Behind the scenes, the television icon is reportedly furious after the photo of her dressed as a homeless person was posted to her social media. To make matters worse, the image was tucked inside an Instagram carousel promoting her QVC candle line. This sparked immediate outrage and accusations of being tone-deaf.

Although the post was quickly wiped from her account, a source revealed that the star is refusing to take the heat alone, as seen on Rob Shutter’s Substack.

“Martha is livid. She’s absolutely seething that this has turned into such a public embarrassment,” the source shared, adding that she is “sorry people are upset, not sorry she did it.”

The source also noted that nothing goes on without Stewart’s approval; as such, she is “now looking for somebody else to blame because the reaction wasn’t what she expected.”

Martha Stewart Previously Released A Statement Defending Her Actions

Following the backlash for the controversial post, Stewart issued a statement claiming that she was distressed and intended to bring awareness to homelessness.

She issued another apology, noting that she “really screwed up,” admitting that her actions were “insensitive and not funny.”

Despite her apology, critics didn’t buy the explanation. Sources note that because she maintains complete control over every single post that goes out under her brand, “pointing fingers” at her staff for something she personally approved has left everyone around her even more frustrated, per The Sun.

Stewart’s statements drew even more criticism from social media users who accused her of being “gross” and “offensive.”

“Doing that during the day where u dress up as something you aren’t is out of touch honestly idk what she was thinking out of all days,” one user wrote, as reported by The Blast.

When the controversial photograph first vanished from her feed, fans wondered whether it meant that the mogul hoped the scandal would simply blow over. However, public condemnation continued to rise over her use of real-world poverty to market QVC candles.

Disappointed fans quickly pointed out that using a tragic crisis as a prop inside a commercial post felt rather “tone-deaf” coming from a multimillionaire.

The Charity Martha Stewart Referenced Does Not Serve Homeless People

Building on the growing public outcry and her attempts to defend the controversial photo, Stewart’s PR cleanup hit another major roadblock.

Following her initial defense claiming the outfit was meant to raise awareness, she highlighted her history of supporting charitable causes. However, an organization she frequently champions stepped forward to set the record straight.

A spokesperson for God’s Love We Deliver publicly clarified that assisting people experiencing homelessness is simply not part of their mission.

“God’s Love provides free medically tailored meals to people with life-altering chronic illnesses. It does not serve people experiencing homelessness,” the statement read, per The Blast.

While the representative confirmed that Stewart remains a valued donor and attendee of their annual fundraising events, they emphasized the importance of preventing any public confusion regarding their actual core work.

Stewart is not the only high-profile figure to experience criticism for her Halloween costume.

While Halloween 2026 saw countless celebrities showing off elaborate transformations, a handful of stars found themselves facing severe online backlash for missing the mark.

Paris Hilton drew swift outrage after transforming her family into characters from “Beauty and the Beast.” Hilton was dressed as Princess Belle, and critics immediately took to the comments section to accuse the mother of stealing the spotlight from her kids, as reported by The Blast.

Jessica Alba channeled Nancy Kerrigan after the accident, and critics accused her of making violent assault a trivial issue.

Meanwhile, North West dressed as Natalie Nunn with an exaggerated chin using prosthetics. And although users slammed her for being “mean-spirited,” Nunn seemingly found no issue with the costume.
