Meghan Markle Instructed To Give up Logo Reinvention

Meghan Markle‘s efforts to become a leading entrepreneur continue to spark criticism from PR and royal experts.

After leaving the Royal Family, the Duchess of Sussex signed a multimillion-dollar deal with Netflix and launched her As Ever brand in April 2025. Although she sold out minutes after her business’ debut, critics believe her time in the spotlight is over.

Meghan Markle became a controversial part of the British monarchy in 2018 after tying the knot with Prince Harry. They stepped down from their roles as senior royals in 2020 and have since been estranged from the Royal Family after dropping scathing allegations against them.

Renae Smith, founder of The Atticism, did not mince her words while ripping Meghan’s business career apart in a new interview. She lamented the struggles of the media personality’s PR team, claiming they were wasting their time and efforts.

The PR expert advised the Duchess of Sussex to quit while she was ahead, saying: “Trying to reinvigorate Meghan’s brand right now feels like trying to resuscitate an old dog. It might breathe again for a minute, but it’s not fetching sticks ever again. I feel like she’s cooked. Turn the stove off. It’s done.”

According to RadarOnline, Smith’s comments were in response to news of Meghan and Harry’s new PR team. The couple reportedly fired at least six communications team members and replaced them with the firm Method Communications.

Meghan and Harry fired UK-based Director of Communications Charlie Gipson and U.S. Deputy Press Secretary Kyle Boulia while putting Meredith Maines and Emily Robinson in top PR posts. Additionally, the PR changes affected the media personality’s social media accounts.

The former actress returned to Instagram early this year after years away from social media. She initially marked her comeback by getting personal with fans by sharing pictures from her Montecito life, including her bonding with Harry and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

However, Meghan changed her tune following the PR changes, a move Smith addressed in her interview. “Her new social media strategy is clearly PR-led. And while it’s not exciting, it’s probably the only smart thing they can do right now,” she claimed, adding:

“Going quiet slows the noise and stops her from making more mistakes, or what I call a ‘panic pivot,’ which makes a brand look desperate. I’d guess they’re letting the dust settle before rolling out something new.”

Smith wasn’t alone in thinking Meghan had no shot as an entrepreneur, as brand experts Phillip Millar and Camille Moore echoed similar sentiments. The Blast covered the story, reporting that the pair slammed the businesswoman on their podcast, arguing that she had no idea what she was doing.

Millar claimed her brand was “run by a confederacy of dunces,” whose only purpose was to help Meghan maximize the “fame that came from Suits and being a part of the Royal Family.” He added that she was a “fraud,” stressing that she deliberately sold a misrepresentation of herself to fans.

“She thinks she can pretend to be that while actually being this and sucker people into buying her stuff, and every step of the way, she’s failing because it’s not legitimate. It’s not intelligent. It’s not well executed,” Miller declared. “Her brand wasn’t one built on substance. It was based on using people.”

Despite the speculations and criticisms about Meghan’s lifestyle business, The Blast reported that she continues to have a great working relationship with Netflix. A source claimed the pair were working on another contract as their first multimillion-dollar deal would expire in September.

Although critics bashed Meghan’s cooking show and her As Ever brand, the source claimed these ventures proved the Duchess of Sussex’s worth to the streaming giant. “If you’re in the top third of Netflix, you’re getting another deal,” they explained.

As for why Meghan and Netflix have been quiet about their new contract, the insider noted it was due to legal restrictions. “What happens at the end of the contract is that people renegotiate. But when doing any kind of commercial negotiation, both sides are not allowed to talk about it,” they claimed.
