Mickey Mouse Horror Film Will get Name, Provides Minnie & Extra

Mickey Mouse’s Steamboat Willie persona is back to terrorize audiences yet again. Screamboat 2, a sequel to the Mickey Mouse-themed horror movie from 2025, has been announced.

What do we know about Screamboat 2?

According to a new report from Variety, the new film, titled Screamboat 2: Nothing Stays Dead, was announced by director Steven LaMorte. The project will begin development in 2026, with Variety saying that “much of the cast” is expected to return, though nothing formal has been announced yet. David Howard Thornton (who also plays Art the Clown in the Terrifier franchise) played Steamboat Willie in Screamboat.

This time around, Steamboat Willie will be joined by a romantic partner, with the film set to “expand on the shocking cliffhanger ending of the first film — which teased the arrival of another murderous public-domain icon: Minnie.” According to the filmmakers, “fans can expect the sequel to build on that legacy with even more outrageous set pieces and gruesome comedy.”

LaMorte’s first film was announced just one day after the character of Steamboat Willie was released into the public domain in January 2024. The film followed the story of a mutant mouse released by a group of maintenance workers, terrorizing a group of people in the process. Although the film received mixed reviews, Thornton’s work as Steamboat Willie and the chaotic nature of the film was praised by horror fans.
