Red leaves Netflix in February
Netflix subscribers will soon lose access to the 2010 action-comedy Red, as the streamer prepares to remove the film later next month. The movie is scheduled to leave the platform after February 22, 2026 (via What’s on Netflix).
Frank Moses, a former CIA agent living in retirement, is forced back into danger when a high-tech assassin targets him. He reconnects with his former partners Joe, Marvin and Victoria to protect himself and uncover who is behind the attack.
As the group digs deeper, they uncover a conspiracy that places them in continued danger. Relying on their training and experience, the former agents attempt to stay alive while pursuing those behind the operation. This includes undertaking a risky break-in at CIA headquarters.
The film stars Bruce Willis as Frank Moses and Morgan Freeman as Joe Matheson. Other cast members include John Malkovich as Marvin Boggs, Helen Mirren as Victoria “Vicky” Winslow, and Karl Urban as William Cooper, among others.
Red was met with generally favorable reviews at the time of release. It currently holds a 72 percent critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes. The film holds same rating from audiences on the site.
The Epoch Times’ Michael Clark wrote, “Baring just a slight resemblance to the far more serious and violent graphic novel on which it’s based, RED never veers far outside traditional action-comedy boundaries yet delivers welcomed surprises at every turn.”
The film also performed well commercially, earning about $199 million worldwide. According to Box Office Mojo, it collected about $90 million from the domestic theaters and approximately $108 million from international territories.
