No Doubt Dusts Off Rarities At Sphere Debut

No Doubt dipped into its back catalog for a host of rarities last night (May 6) during the first of 12 shows at Las Vegas’ Sphere, marking just the third proper live appearance by the Gwen Stefani-fronted band since 2015.

The show opened with the title track from the band’s 1995 breakthrough album “Tragic Kingdom,” which hadn’t been played live since 2009. Other uncommon songs included “The Climb” (first time since 1997), “Running” (first time since 2012) and “Trapped In a Box” (first time since 2002).

The set featured 10 tunes from Tragic Kingdom, including the smash hits “Don’t Speak,” “Spiderwebs” and “Just a Girl,” plus four each from the albums Return of Saturn and Rock Steady. It also included No Doubt’s hit cover of Talk Talk’s “It’s My Life,” which reached No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The band reunited for two Coachella sets in 2024 and again briefly in early 2025 for the FireAid benefit in Los Angeles. It became the first female-fronted act at Sphere, which opened in 2024 and has since hosted U2, Dead & Company, Phish, Kenny Chesney and Anyma, among others.

The Sphere run extends through June 13. Ahead of its kick-off, No Doubt guitarist Tom Dumont disclosed a years-long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Dumont, 58, said on Instagram he saw a neurologist when “a number of symptoms” began to manifest and was eventually diagnosed with an early-onset form of Parkinson’s. “It’s been a struggle. It’s a struggle every day,” he said. “And I’ll make another video with details about what Parkinson’s entails. The good news is, I can still play music. I can still play guitar. I’ve been doing really well.”
