Mick Jagger is making another unexpected move into the film world. Per numerous published reports, the 82-year-old Rolling Stones frontman has joined the cast of Three Incestuous Sisters, the upcoming English-language feature from acclaimed Italian filmmaker Alice Rohrwacher.
The project also stars Josh O’Connor (whose character’s father Jagger will reportedly play) and marks another rossover moment for Jagger, whose screen appearances have remained relatively rare in recent years. Based on Audrey Niffenegger’s illustrated novel, the gothic drama centers on three sisters living in a decaying house by the sea whose isolated existence is upended by the arrival of the young son of a lighthouse keeper.
The film represents Rohrwacher’s first English-language movie following international acclaim for films such as La Chimera and Happy as Lazzaro. The cast also includes such heavy hitters as Dakota Johnson, Saoirse Ronan, Jessie Buckley and Isabella Rossellini.
Jagger burst into film in 1970 when portraying the titular Ned Kelly and has also appeared in Performance, Freejack, Bent and The Bank Job. His most recent role was in the 2019 crime thriller The Burnt Orange Heresy.
The news comes amid the rollout for the Stones’ upcoming album, Foreign Tongues, which will be released July 10. Digitally de-aged members of the band star in the video for the song “In the Stars,” at one point during which human actress Odessa A’zion licks the AI Jagger’s face.
