Rebecca Romijn is stepping back into the blue skin of Mystique in Avengers: Doomsday. The actress is returning years after talking about a tough time she had on an earlier X-Men movie. She mentioned that playing the famous mutant felt totally different this time around.

In a recent interview at San Diego Comic-Con, Rebecca Romijn talked about coming back as Mystique. She mentioned that after almost two decades, stepping back into the role felt much more natural and that she felt more confident. Romijn said she came back with “so much ownership” of the character.
The actress’s comments come years after she revealed that working on X-Men: The Last Stand under director Brett Ratner was “mortifying and humiliating in front of everybody.”
Rebecca Romijn has previously spoken about how that experience affected her while filming. However, this time, she felt that returning to the role was a far more satisfying experience.
As an American actress and former model, she has enjoyed a successful career in superhero movies, television series, and comedy shows. She initially gained recognition for her role as Mystique in the original X-Men film trilogy, including X-Men (2000), X2 (2003), and X-Men: The Last Stand (2006). She later made a surprise guest appearance in X-Men: First Class (2011). She will next reprise the role in Avengers: Doomsday.
Outside of the X-Men universe, she became highly popular in the comedy-drama series Ugly Betty, where she played the leading role of Alexis Meade, one of the most memorable characters in the series.
Rebecca Romijn is also popular for her role in the Star Trek universe. She plays Commander Una Chin-Riley, also known as Number One, in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. This Paramount+ series was well received by critics and viewers, who were impressed by Romijn’s performance.
