The Satan Wears Prada 3 Will get Sturdy Replace & Tale Concepts as Sequel Hits Disney+

While The Devil Wears Prada 3 may still be far off, early discussions regarding a potential third installment are already circulating. With The Devil Wears Prada 2 making its highly anticipated streaming debut on Disney+ following a successful theatrical run, members of the production team are starting to weigh in on where the story could head next.

Speaking with ComingSoon’s Tyler Treese, screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna confessed that she is surprised that the sequel even happened. She also expressed excitement about the franchise’s future.

The writer-producer said, “It is shocking. I was literally off-camera telling Aline how shocking it is that we made a sequel. The fact that we’re talking about it at all is wonderful and miraculous.”

She added, “At the same time, I have a lot of curiosity about where they go from here. Where journalism goes, where the magazine world goes, and where these characters go are always going to be interesting to me. I’m in love with them, and I’m in love with that family of characters.”

Aline concluded by saying, “I’m really curious where they end up. Miranda can’t do it forever, and that’s going to change the landscape within Runway magazine. What happens is a question I would like to see the answer to.”

The Devil Wears Prada 3 could happen since the second movie was a box office hit

While Disney has not yet announced The Devil Wears Prada 3, the success of the sequel means it will most likely happen. Variety reported that director David Frankel is open to the idea. He shared, “I said, ‘Never again,’ and here we are. So, I certainly would never say, ‘Never again,’ again.”

According to Box Office Mojo, The Devil Wears Prada 2 has earned more than $690 million worldwide. It made over $220 million in North America and more than $470 million internationally. This helped the film secure its place as one of the highest-grossing movies of 2026.

Almost twenty years after the original, the sequel reunited Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci, reprising their roles. The sequel follows Miranda Priestly as she struggles to keep Runway magazine alive in the digital age. She turns to Emily Charlton, now a powerful luxury executive for help. Andy Sachs, now a successful journalist and Runway’s features editor, also returns as old relationships face new challenges.

The sequel enjoyed a theatrical release in May and debuts on Disney+ on July 29, 2026.
