Idris Elba and Taraji P. Henson’s No Good Deed is heading to a new streaming platform more than a decade after its theatrical release. The 2014 thriller received a divided response from critics and audiences but performed strongly at the box office. The film will soon be available to stream on Hulu, giving subscribers another opportunity to watch the crime thriller.
Hulu to stream Idris Elba & Taraji P. Henson’s box-office hit this week
Hulu is bringing Idris Elba and Taraji P. Henson’s divisive thriller No Good Deed to its streaming lineup this week. According to Hulu Press, the film will be available to stream on the platform beginning October 1, 2026.
Directed by Sam Miller and written by Aimée Lagos, No Good Deed arrived in theaters on September 12, 2014. The story follows Terri Granger, an Atlanta mother whose family is placed in danger after she comes into contact with Colin Evans, an escaped convict. Colin arrives at Terri’s home after a car accident, initially appearing to need help.
However, his true intentions soon become clear, forcing Terri to protect herself and her children as the situation inside her home turns dangerous. Elba leads the cast as Colin Evans, with Henson portraying Terri Granger. The cast also includes Leslie Bibb as Meg, Kate del Castillo as Alexis, Henry Simmons as Jeffrey Granger, and Mark Smith as an EMT.
No Good Deed received a negative critical response, earning a 13 percent critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes from 56 reviews. Meanwhile, its audience score stands at 55 percent. The Guardian reported, “This clunkingly terrible film is a baffling career move for Elba, and a waste of co-star Taraji P Henson.”
Despite the critical response, the thriller performed strongly at the box office. It earned approximately $54.3 million worldwide against a reported $13.2 million production budget, according to Box Office Mojo. This includes around $52.5 million from domestic theaters, earning rest from the international territories.
