Doctor Doom is on a mission to collect some of Marvel’s most powerful characters in Avengers: Doomsday, which could lead several other MCU characters to join Hulk on Team Doom. Victor Von Doom’s multiverse-conquering plan has mostly been a mystery throughout Doomsday‘s marketing campaign. While he’ll have the Latverian witches and presumably some Doombots, the big question is who will support his cause.
After all, Loki had the Chitauri, Ultron had the Ultron drones, and Thanos had the Black Order and the Outriders. For as powerful as Doctor Doom is, he can’t take on all the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men alone. There must be others on his side to some degree. A clue has now come through Avengers Endgame: Encore‘s new footage, as Doom was shown visiting Hulk to “collect” him.
Whether Doom sought out Bruce Banner to remove him from Earth-616’s defenses or lure him to help fend off his normal allies remains to be seen. What we do know is that Doom isn’t done. The Russo brothers told Empire Magazine that “his interest may extend beyond just Banner.” With the directing duo non-committal about Hulk’s role in Doomsday, it’s quite possible Doom is secretly taking major players off the board for him to win.
Knowing that Hulk is one of Doom’s targets opens several options for which other Marvel heroes he could go after. Looking at the biggest characters not confirmed to appear in Doomsday really narrows the field. Others could still appear in the movie, only for Marvel to reveal that some beloved heroes have willingly or forcefully aligned themselves with the Multiverse Saga’s big bad.

Spider-Man
Doom may have already collected Tom Holland’s Spider-Man before Avengers: Doomsday, too. Spider-Man: Brand New Day‘s post-credits scene teased Spidey no longer being on Earth, with the common assumption that he was now on Battleworld, teasing his role in Avengers: Secret Wars. But a detail in the credits suggests Spider-Man may have been taken by Doom before Doomsday.
In Avengers Endgame: Encore‘s post-credits scene with Hulk, Doom’s arrival is accompanied by electrical glitches. Similar glitches occur during Brand New Day‘s credits scene. That’s why there is now a theory that Doom collected Spider-Man, with the SpideyTracker app teasing this fate. It would mean a Spider-Man and Hulk reunion in some form.
There are several reasons why Doom would target Spider-Man. Peter Parker has a brilliant scientific mind, increased powers after Brand New Day, and holds a personal connection to Tony Stark (who Victor somewhat looks like, whether that matters or not). Making Spider-Man an ally or stopping him from interfering is smart on Doom’s part.

Captain Marvel
Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel is currently not confirmed to be in Avengers: Doomsday, but that could be because she’s also with Doom. Carol Danvers can single-handedly defeat most enemies, which is why the Russos sidelined her for most of Avengers: Endgame. If they were unsure how to give Doom the upper hand and stop her from ending his multiversal takeover quickly, putting her in his grasp is one solution.
This would go a long way in explaining why Captain Marvel isn’t part of the Avengers in Doomsday. She has connections to lots of the existing heroes, is stationed on Earth, and has a personal story connected to the multiverse. Carol would certainly stand opposed to Doom under normal circumstances, but perhaps he promised her a chance to get some friends back in exchange for her help. Even if he imprisoned her, it’d be smart to take her out of the equation.

Doctor Strange
Doctor Strange is another great possibility for who Doom could collect. He was last seen beginning a multiversal journey with Clea to fix an incursion he created. Instead of returning from this quest, his path may have crossed with Doom, leading the former Sorcerer Supreme and Latverian ruler to join forces.
While Doom may have had to forcefully take someone like Hulk, there’s a chance Strange would come more willingly. He is more than willing to look at the grand scheme of the multiverse and make difficult decisions. If Doom approached him with proof that the multiverse is collapsing and a plan to stop the incursions or rebuild the multiverse, there is a reasonable chance Strange agrees with him. This would also prevent Strange from using his magic to try and stop him.

Scarlet Witch
Credit: MovieStillsDBIf Doom is looking to collect heroes who have the best chance of stopping him, Scarlet Witch should be at the top of the list. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness indicated she died, but we never saw the body. There is no definitive proof that Doom couldn’t have stepped in at the last moment and whisked her away. It would show how long he’s been building his side for Avengers: Doomsday.
Marvel may have already slyly teased Scarlet Witch being part of Doom’s team, too. It’s confirmed that Doom has multiple Latverian witches supporting him. One of them could be Wanda Maximoff. After all, if Doom wants to reshape reality, having someone with Scarlet Witch’s powers on his side would make a great deal of sense. She might even agree to help him if it meant creating a world where she got to restart her family life.

Jean Grey
MovieStillsDBJean Grey could be another target of Doctor Doom’s. She didn’t need much time in Spider-Man: Brand New Day to show how powerful she was. Doom would see someone with her telekinetic abilities as either a resourceful ally or a dangerous threat. In either case, it’d be in his best interest to collect her and figure out what to do later.
It’s also worth noting that Sadie Sink’s version might not be the Jean Grey that Doom goes after. He could have collected Famke Janssen’s version, explaining why she’s not part of Doomsday’s X-Men team. That’d prove to be quite the shock for audiences and the characters, as the X-Men would have to face off against one of their own then.

Monica Rambeau
Given the multiversal stakes in play, Doom could also go after Monica Rambeau. Her powers grew throughout The Marvels to the point where she was able to close a rift in the multiverse. Those abilities could be of great use to Doom, depending on the specifics of his plan. She is also someone who could very easily pop up on Doom’s radar.
The Marvels left Monica in a different universe, making her existence a risk to the multiverse. Doom may be monitoring the multiverse for people who go to other universes, like the TVA, but look to collect those who can help him rather than just return them to their original worlds. If Doomsday doesn’t have a search-and-rescue storyline for Monica, the best explanation for that is if she’s already been found by Doom.

Storm
Image courtesy of Everett CollectionStorm is another X-Men member who could be a target for Doom’s collection. Fans have questioned for a long time why Halle Berry isn’t returning in the movie. Rather than Doomsday reveal that her hero died in previous multiversal conflicts, it would be far more interesting to learn that Doctor Doom took her in addition to Hulk.
This would be a way to signal to everyone just how powerful Storm really is: Doom would rather take her off the board than fight her. It would also suggest that Storm does have a role to play in Avengers: Doomsday, just in a different way than most expected.
Only time will tell which other Marvel characters Doom collects ahead of or during Avengers: Doomsday. Depending on how ambitious and universe-spanning this plot is, these seven heroes are just the tip of the iceberg for who could be among Doctor Doom’s ranks or prisoners.
