Lana Del Rey Unveils ‘007 First Gentle’ Theme Music

There’s a new Bond theme in town — and this one drifts in on a haze of melancholy glamour courtesy of Lana Del Rey. The artist has been tapped to perform and co-write “First Light,” the official title track for the upcoming video game 007 First Light, marking one of the most on-brand pairings the Bond universe has seen in years.

The song is out now via Interscope Records and finds Del Rey linking with Bond music veteran David Arnold, who helped define the franchise’s sound across five films. According to developer IO Interactive and Amazon MGM Studios, “First Light” aims to thread the needle between classic 007 grandeur and Del Rey’s signature cinematic sadness.

The collaboration was conceived by producer Gabriel Moszkowski from Media W, who united Del Rey and Arnold. “The Bond theme is a unique storytelling moment. It has to capture scale, drama and intrigue all at once. Having been part of that musical lineage, I understand how important it is to honor its heritage while allowing it to evolve,” Arnold says. “Lana brought an elegance and atmosphere to the song that felt perfectly suited to continuing that tradition while introducing something fresh for a new era.”

The track will get its full visual moment tomorrow (April 17), when the game’s title sequence premieres across streaming platforms, giving fans their first proper look at this reimagined Bond universe. 007 First Light rewinds the clock, casting players as a young James Bond at the very start of his career. The game drops May 27 across consoles and PC, with IO Interactive (best known for the Hitman franchise) promising a more character-driven take on 007.

There’s still no word on who will take the reins of the James Bond character on film, following Daniel Craig’s five-film, 15-year run. The as-yet-untitled next film in the series will be directed by Denis Villeneuve.
