WeaponsZach Gregger to make a horror movie on a popular and haunting internet creature. The acclaimed filmmaker is also behind the upcoming Resident Evil movie arriving later this year.

What scary internet creature is being turned into a horror movie by Zach Cregger?

It’s been revealed that Warner Bros. Pictures has acquired the rights to Siren Head. It’s a viral and popular creepy creature made by designer Trevor Henderson, reports The Hollywood Reporter. What makes this figure disturbing and horrifying is that it stands on a tall, rotting skeletal figure and has two sirens instead of a proper head.

The Siren Head horror movie has also found a director in none other than Weapons’ Zach Cregger. The Barbarian filmmaker will collaborate with Brian Duffield for scriptwriting. Duffield has also got a new survival movie, Whalefall, coming soon.

Cregger and Duffield will also produce the Siren Head horror movie alongside Roy Lee, Andrew Childs, and Scott Glassgold.

It seems the trend of making horror films based on viral internet legends or creatures isn’t stopping anytime soon, especially after the wild success of Backrooms, which has grossed over $330 million worldwide so far. Backrooms was based on a popular YouTube series from its director, Kane Parsons, who was inspired by a viral 2019 Reddit post about a yellow dingy room.

Siren Head was a meme created by Henderson in 2018. It featured a drawing of a unique-looking cryptid. The design blew up and caught everyone’s attention after it was shared online. It even resulted in fan theories, animated clips, fan-made shorts, and video games based on Siren Head.

So far, various forms of content featuring Siren Head have garnered over 3 billion TikTok views and over a billion views on YouTube.

Zach Cregger’s Siren Head horror movie has yet to receive an official release date window.
